Doh! I forgot to add "Adult Beginner Forum". Sorry! Post if you want that, as polls can't be edited it seems.

There are very popular yahoo groups for harpsichord, clavichord and fortepiano. You might entice some of them with an appropriate form. Also I take it strings are not out of the question?

All options are on the table as far as this stuff goes. I'd love to accommodate the early music crowd too. Yes, strings are definitely going to be part of this forum.

cause I think I'm gonna become more of a string player in the future - I'm too lazy to practice more than one instrument on a daily basis besides, you should hear my vibrato!

Could we have a Jascha Heifetz forum in virtuosi? I'm waiting to post a video! I'll make a sticky thread. I'll add sub boards later if there's a lot of traffic.

My bad - I didn't see the add thread button. That's fine! Now you know. Just let me know if you need a "sticky".

I put in my vote for an organists forum Cool board btw! Thanks! I actually have an organist's forum ready, but it's hidden right now. ;D Looks like that may be changing since at least two members already are organists.

I'm going to go ahead and bring the organist's forum out of hiding.

Could you ban DP vs acoustic debates?

Could you ban DP vs acoustic debates? Only if they break the forum rules in discourse. And piano industry discussion is disallowed anyway. It could only be from the pianist's standpoint. Don't ask me to disallow this and that just because you don't like it. For the record, I think that debate is settled, but I see no reason why it can't be discussed as long as it remains civil. But I am aware of certain hot button issues, and the staff will be vigilant to ensure things don't get out of hand. [edit] and remember everyone, all discussions must be posted in the right place. There will come a time when misplaced threads will disappear.

Ejay waves and votes for adult beginner forum too , and a hammered dulcimer forum.
I know what I would like to gain from this forum. I have played classical guitar from a young age, and also the hammered dulcimer ( but mainly celtic folk , not yet classical level). I was a ballet dancer and then teacher.
My knowledge of classical pianists and composers is sadly lacking . I know classical guitar and ballet music and really want to know how to best educate both my ear and gain historical knowledge of composers and performers. So much to learn, to where to start ?

I'm not sure a hammer dulcimer area would get much traffic. But am AB area, and a classical guitar forum might be interesting.

Yes I daresay , although there are very many dulcimer enthusiasts, there are fewer who play classical , apart from the obvious pieces like Canon in D.
Would it be possible, for the different composers, to have an introductory post for each of them, a short history and /or link to articles about them and their works ? There are a lot of videos and recordings on the net, but which ones should be avoided or recommended. Or Perhaps a composer or pianist of the month ?

We'll see how things play out. That is an excellent idea! I do not have time to do it, but I think it could be an awesome thing for members to do if they wish.
