Hmmm, works fine here. Oh, well. I came across another recording of the Hexameron by Liszt (with help) that is supposedly Horowitz but it doesn't sound quite right to me and I'm kind of a collector. The octave and chord work is similar but the finger work and voicing isn't typical. What do you think?

Maybe Koji could shed some light on it. See the attachment as to the copyright thing. Attachments:

It's not Horowitz; I seem to recall it was either Hamelin or Howard and sped up.

It's not Horowitz; I seem to recall it was either Hamelin or Howard and sped up. Seems a little too bangy (is that a word) for Hamelin and too rhythmically precise for Howard. I have the Howard recording so I can compare it later. Is that Katsaris for your avatar. I like his playing and nobody ever seems to talk about him.

From someone whose ears I trust implicitly: "I've solved the "horowitz hexameron" mystery and am spreading the word a bit. the pianist is leslie howard. it's exactly the same interpretation as far as volume shifts and so on but the "horowitz" has been sped up in places. very interesting "joyce hatto" effect there. the howard hexameron is out there on y/tube and you can hear it for yourself - y/t user "musicaignotus" has it up."
Yes indeed, that's Cyprien and it's a shame he's not more well known here in the States--

I figured it was a fraud since I did not know of Hexameron being in Volodya's discography. ;D Yeah, I've seen his masterclasses on youtube; engaging teacher to say the least!

Well, not new, but it is an update of Christian Johanssen's site carried out (with Mr. Johanssen's permission; he was no longer maintaining the site) by Hank Drake, among others. www.vladimirhorowitz.info/Those of you who follow the Horowitz Yahoo! group probably know about it already.

I'm enjoying The Last Recording on my iPod at the moment...while I prefer to listen on the hi fi, the iPod is more convenient. ;D

Funny, I listened to The Last Recording last night! I love that CD, too... how thoughtful and mature those recordings are.

there is someone who knows music. yes this is Leslie Howard version. not horowitz. i cant believe people actually believe this is horowtiz version. he never ever recorded any hexameron version. he is little too sloppy for this song. he can play fast, but misses too many notes and just not strong enough. this doesnt even sound like horowitz at all to start with. and this has the same rests, pressing and holding down keys, dynamics, finger shiftings and all the same with leslie howard's version. because i bought the franz list collection of howard in 60 CDs. anyway, spread the words around. that guy who put this on youtube must be accused of misleading public information in public place. this can be easily done with computers if you know how to use cubase or sonar software well enough. i use it somewhat often. or anyother speed changing software can do the same. pitch doesnt really change much, but slightly lower quality. that is why this version sounds pretty old and ragged, which to make people believe that this is actually an old recording. anyway, it is absolutely shame and utter disgrace for horowitz. he was one of the finest pianist on earth and he is now on a stupid discussion topic. what a shame...

Yeah, we're all aware that that is a fake, and a bad one at that.
Anyone know what the Steinway piano tour schedule is? I can't find it since they remade their website.
