Sure is a shock...sad to see one of my favs go down like this. I doubt his career will survive accusations such as these. Thoughts? Opinions?

It is sad. Of course, perversion in the arts is so commonplace, I'm not at all surprised.

I don't know if I would go so far as to say that perversion in the arts is commonplace more so that in other professions—there are bad apples in every basket—but I would say that a lot of people who are in the arts are too often egotistical, self-absorbed types.

Pletnev will get away with it, though if that stands outside of Russia, I should be surprised.
All rather sickening to me, but the thread on PW quickly (not surprisingly- I knew it would happen) went into a discussion of homosexuality in general, and that is when the signal to noise ratio crashed and burned. Never read such uninformed tripe in my life.
I've personally known several social conservatives, and in many respects they were dynamite people, but it's just not my scene. Fair enough...

I thought the discussion was surprisingly civil but for two posters, one of which may or may not be a social conservative. (unless sexuality is your only barometer in this matter) As for Pletnev, he is getting away with it so far as he has already been released and is preparing to concertize.

No doubt you have checked the status of the thread on Pletnev on PW. Some interesting contributions since I posted last night before going to bed. It has been quite civil and the mod hasn't deemed it necessary to slam it shut.

Yes, I was quite amazed that the thread was re railed. There's always a first time for everything. ;D

Yes, I saw that and I think your (argerichfan) last post about the whole OP will be the case. I don't think we'll know any more than we do right now.

Now that the PW thread was derailed by personal attacks from both sides (that won't happen here, so keep a lid on it)....here's a video that was completely overlooked: Pletnev's side of the story [edit] The video seems to have been removed....

Phew, good to see this one still open. The PW one was closed as soon as Kreisler saw it was circling the drain!
[admin note: sorry, but no inflammatory stuff here. Thanks]

YOU GUYS! Here I am away from this board for about 11 hours and look at the state of things. Tut-tut.

[...] I've been a moderator on a Jesse McCartney board, so I know all about the secret 'forums' which only moderators can access. Can you imagine what must be discussed? [...] I pity you....that must've been an interesting job to say the least.

I pity you....that must've been an interesting job to say the least. Got a lot of PMs from star-struck young girls, not to mention some guys too! It was a rather contentious board.

So therefore I understand Kreisler's daily sacrifice on the cross of PW. Not an easy job to be sure, but he painfully talks about it too much. Doesn't fool me one bit. He loves his power. Hehe, doesn't surprise me. I think more moderators than anyone cares to admit feel that way.

In related news, Roman Polanski has found safe haven in Switzerland for his (alledged) rape/pedophilia as they refuse to extradite him to the US. Is the world mostly soft on this crime?

Kreisler knows his stuff very well -no doubt about that, particularly in educational areas- but time and time again I tend to disagree with what he says, notwithstanding a lot of smoke-up-the-ass praise he gets. He never responds to anything I post on PW, and I do not respond to his stuff. I think he responded to one post I made but as soon as I challenged his position, I didn't see another word about it. I think he just likes to offer his opinion and, because he's a moderator, stops at arguing about it. Overall, I think he does a good job.
